Projects and Accolades

I worked with a team to develop a full-stack notification system for Portland Community College that connects food-insecure students with resources. This project was done in Java and PHP and featured account creation, SMS/Email notifications, templates, and a review log. PCC staff could login and choose from a series of templates for notifications to send out which were all logged in a database on the backend. Students could create accounts to subscribe using the application or on the web. Post account creation they could opt in to receive notifications via text message, email, or both.
I created an application using Python that uses a voice recognition library to transcribe YouTube videos. The transcripts can then be downloaded, printed and sent to people who are incarcerated or have no internet access.
Unimpressed with the efficiency of voice-assistants from multi-billion dollar companies Amazon and Google, I've decided to use Python, Node.JS ,and Hugging Face to build my own local LLM- based voice assistant. That way my 4-year old son can have more than a 3% chance of getting a useful response when he asks his voice assistant for Minecraft advice :-)
